These are the famous horn arches in Jackson Hole. We just went through town on our way to the tetons, then stopped a little later to look around.

We wanted to go to Jenny lake, but the road was already closed for the season, so we decided to take the 2.7 mile hike to Lake Taggert. It was beautiful. This is Sarah and the kids at the trail head.
You can see how the weather changed by the time we got back.

And this is our very informal portrait, taken by a librarian at the Provo Library. :) We are hardly all together - in fact, it has been quite a while, so you have to take every opportunity given.

Wow... this all looks like so much fun! Makes me wish we had been in Utah, too... wasn't everybody else???
So how did it work? Where did Eric and Sarah fly into? Looks like there was lots of driving. Good times.
I LOVE the Tetons shots. That crisp mountain air is something that can't be replicated. And what majestic mountains. I fall in love with them all over again each time I see them.
Go back to Jackson in the summer... *if* you are still around. It is such a fun atmosphere... and it has this great little playhouse with great shows!

We got to see Meghan for just a few minutes before she had to take a friend to the airport. We didn't get to see Lyz - her kids had croup. Everyone else in the pictures we got to talk with for awhile.
Eric and Sarah drove up. They stopped in Provo on the way for a couple of hours to see the new baby. They stayed with us through Tuesday morning, then drove to SLC to pick up Sam from the airport...only Sam wasn't there. He thought he was flying the next day. :) We drove down Tuesday as well. Eric and Sarah were nice enough to put us up in a hotel since the only friends we could find to stay with lived in Kamas, and we wouldn't have been able to really be involved in anything.
We saw the baby on Tuesday, then took all the kids to a gym on BYU to play for awhile, then headed back to Christopher and Allison's for pizza. It was pretty short because their kids needed to go to bed and Christopher had to go home teaching. So we went back to the hotel and visited and went to bed. (I got a nice long hot bath! Which was probably one of the highlights of the trip. :)
Wednesday we met everyone for brunch, then took a picture at the library, then Kaile and I left for SLC with Ginny. We bought groceries and went home and made decorations for her apartment. We went to bed wayyyyyyy too late. Jan and Sam stayed at the hotel with the other kids and ate Bajio grill and watched hairspray.
Thursday Ginny and I got up at 7 and started cooking. Jan and Sam took Claire and Garrett swimming, and I heard there were lots of wrestling and throwing going on. What I don't know doesn't hurt me, right? Jan and Sam drove to SLC about 2 and got there in time to help us finish up (get in our way :). We finally ate around 7.
That is probably more then you wanted to know.
It turns out we probably will be doing this again next year, so I will definitely try and get to the tetons earlier in the season. Although the lights on the horn arches at night were majestic.

Sounds like a fun Thanksgiving... breaking in Ginny's kitchen with a turkey. Fun times.
Long baths on vacations are priceless. So is a good, long stint of uninterrupted reading. As is the hubby taking the kiddos for a while (good job Jan).
Did you know that Ginny's kitchen is only . . . probably 4'x7'? And I don't mean the walkway. It is probably only 2 or 3' between the refrigerator on one side and the sink on the other. We did all of the prep on a card table. I should have taken a picture. Her apartment is really, really little, so we had Thanksgiving picnic style - and most sat on the floor or living room couch. It was a lot of fun.
I kept telling her - this is how Thanksgiving should be. Everyone working REALLY closely together and getting to visit. Too many times our Thanksgivings consist of everyone making their own things at home and then just getting together to eat. I really enjoyed the LONG day with Ginny.
